"In 1976 punk rock was rejected by the music industry, the media and established venues. Despite this, on 1st January 1977 The Roxy Club, London WC2, opened exclusively for punk rock. The Roxy Club became the focal point of this new phenomenon . In its short existence the club featured every available punk band. Then on the 23rd April 1977 the club changed hands. But not before the spirit had been captured."
